Workout #9 - Taekwondo Footwork

We don't need any equipment, and not much room at all for this one. Workout #9 -- Footwork!

Workout #8 Heavy Bag Workout -- The Eight Kick Drill

Best if done on a heavy bag, but could be done on a body shield, paddles, or even in the air. Heavy Bag 8 Kick Drill

Using the Time

I'd just like to post some of the things I've been doing during this period in order to stay busy and offer some things that I've found useful since we've been asked to stay home from school/work. If you post what you've been doing in the comments below, we can learn from each other. Let's make the most of this time! I make my bed in the morning. I used to not really see the point in doing this, but now it makes me feel like I've accomplished something right at the beginning of the day, which makes me feel better. Makes the room look neater, too. Plus, not much better than sliding into a made bed. I've been watching videos from other Martial Arts teachers. Even without someone to practice with, I feel I've gotten to the point where I can learn a new technique by seeing it (even if it takes several times watching it/practicing it.) A lot of really great teachers are posting their skills online now during the pandemic for free. Stephen Kesting an

New Home Workout -- Weapons work - Bojutsu!

Here is a Bo Staff practice guide! I'll be making a longer weblog post soon, and setting up another Mat Chat, this time on Google Meet. Zoom worked fine, but had a time limit.  Google Meet I think will be better. I'll be sending out an invite via email, so check your inbox! BoJutsu Practice

Home Workout! 5 Solo Grappling Drills

Here's a home workout for today -- 5 Solo Grappling Drills

Mat Chat was great!

Image
Had a really fun time with our online mat chat yesterday! I think we should make it a regular thing until we can see each other in person again.
One Week Down! Way to go, everyone who's been doing these. Again, this is a time we can actually IMPROVE, not just maintain. Here's the workout for today

Home Practice #4!

Today's practice starts with a clever way to practice your form, shorter wall work, a mirror drill, hand skills, and ends with a leg workout and deep stretch. Practice #4!

Home Workout #3

Bingo!

2nd Home Workout!

Here is the 2nd Home Workout! Hope everyone is doing well. Feel free to comment below! (Congrats to YoYi for being the first to complete yesterday's practice!)

First Home Workout

As we go through this adventure together, this is a good time to radically improve our skills. In addition to keeping ourselves in shape, let's let our workouts be stress-relief. Remember! We're in good shape -- we have food, water, electricity, internet and probably a ton of free time! Here's the workout. It's basic but solid. They'll get more advanced as we go. Home Workout #1
LOMA Students and Parents, As much as I hate to do it, it's the smart thing to close in order to heed official warnings and to keep the vulnerable among us as safe as possible.  Students! So we don't get out of practice, I'll be posting home workouts and videos on this blog. This is a way to keep our skills sharp while we're stuck in our homes. This is an opportunity to develop solo practice habits that will make us better for when are able to return to the Dojang and practice together again.  Bookmark this page! Stay safe! Jason Hughes
